 Ms. Hyacinth R. Lim, a fourth year BS Nursing student of Ateneo de Zamboanga University was crowned the 2009 Miss Zamboanga during a beauty pageant held last October 8 at the Astoria Regency, Pasonanca.
Throughout the pageant night, candidates competed in three categories - swimsuit, evening gown and question and answer. Ms. Sherrydelle Sarreal crowned her successor at the conclusion of the event.

The group, composed of former Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) combatants and their families, was trained by USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program through its Targeted Commodity Expansion Project (TCEP), in vegetable, catfish and tilapia production. GEM also provided the cooperative with a facility that allows its farmer-members to consolidate their harvests and negotiate for higher farm-gate prices. Since 2002, more than 11,000 ex-fighters and their family members have been assisted by GEM to produce higher-value fruits, vegetables and aquaculture products. GEM is being implemented under the oversight of the Mindanao Economic Development Council.

Students from Ateneo de Zamboanga University taking BS in Information Technology major in Multimedia and Animation were recently recognized as finalists to the Animahenasyon Competition held last Novemeber 25 - 28, 2009 at the Gateway Mall, Araneta Center in Metro Manila.
