"Tulungan mong maiangat ang pangalang Mindanao mula sa kanyang pagkalugmok. Tutukan din sana ng iyong gobyerno ang pagsasaayos ng mga imprastruktura para sa transportasyon, turismo at pangangalakal dito sa Mindanao sapagkat lubusan na kaming naiiwan sa pag-unlad...."

An unusual light display in the skies of Zamboanga was seen at around 5PM today (June 5, 2010). Watch the video below to see the amazing rainbow (I'm not sure what to call this phenomenon).
The incumbent Mayor of Zamboanga City Hon. Celso L. Lobregat retain its position as the top official of the city during the May 2010 elections. His partymates who are also incumbent officers dominate the race. Hon. Isabel "Beng" Climaco is again the House Representative for District 1 and Hon. Erico Basilio Fabian is the District 2 solon. For the top position, only the Vice Mayor seat will be slated to a non-reelectionist officer who is City Councilor Cesar Ituralde.
District I councilor race is topped by re-electionist Councilor Jaime Cabato (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga), followed by re-electionist Councilor Melchor Rey Sadain (NPC), Councilor Cesar Jimenez Jr. (NPC); Tumaga barangay kagawad Rodolfo Bayot; re-electionist Councilor Gerky Valesco (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga); re-electionist Councilor Luis Biel III (LDP-AZaP) and Councilor Rudy Lim (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga). The final slot is yet to be determined when all the votes are already canvassed. It is a toss up between partymates Myra Valderozza Abubakar and Josephine Pareja.
Re-electionist Councilor Lilia Nuno (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga) topped the Council race in District II. Re-electionist Councilor Benjamin Guingona III (LDP-AZaP) is in 2nd place; re-electionist Councilor Eddie Saavedra (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga); re-electionist Reynerio Candido (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga); Atty. Romel Agan (NPC); Percival Ramos (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga) and Vincent Paul Elago (LDP-Adelante Zamboanga). The 8th slot was a toss-up between NPC’s Al-Jihan Edding and LDP-Adelante Zamboanga’s Mike Alavar.
Following Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Jesli Lapus’ appeal to politicians not to use graduation ceremonies as venues for their campaign, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) president and now Nacionalista Party senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano has expressed his disgust over Lapus’ “inconsistent remark.”
“That’s rich coming from Sec. Lapus who has his face in posters for DepEd in schools all over the Philippines,” Tamano blasted, adding that the DepEd has long “politicized” schools.
Bongao, Tawi-Tawi --- While the country is currently experiencing the ill effects of El Nino, the government continue beating the odds for social and economic development in the rural areas.
Infrastructure projects worth more than P100M would be visited by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo this week on her nationwide agribusiness tour.
The projects that include more than one (1) kilometer road and a 700 meters bridge would link the capital town of Bongao to mainland Tawi-tawi.
According to District Engineer Bensud Adjihil, the project is under the roads and bridges partnership program of the national government with the government of Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) program.
